NEW WEBSITE: A Winter Bird Atlas for Ohio

The Ohio Shorebird Network debuts as a major addition to the Aves.net domain of ornithological websites.
Revision of the links for Online Newsletters/Magazines within the Ornithological Web Library; The total number of links within The O.W.L. database exceeds 1850.

Finally added the Articles page to the OBR publications directory. The selection is admittedly sparse but will be added to from a backlog of material.

The O.W.L. has substantially expanded with a significant upgrade to the "Compleat Online Guide to Birding in the USA" compiled by Donald Morse, Jr. Total links in The O.W.L. now exceeds 1500.
Upgrade of the search engine: now using GOOGLE search - for the most comprehensive and relevant search results.
A recent technical upgrade to the domain Aves.net hosting package with Interland will allow further expansion and upgrades.
Addition of a new directory. Publications will navigate readers to photoessays, photo-quizzes, and articles.
Revision of the links within the Ornithological Field Stations & Bird Ringing Schemes directory. Now well over 100 listings.

New page devoted to summer gull plumages in Ohio. First offering features a recent record of Lesser Black-backed Gull.
A new directory ARCHIVES has been added to manage the long-term warehousing of correspondence from the Ohio-birds Email Listserv.
A photo-essay on wire bound swallows has been added. Late summer plumages of Purple Martin, Bank Swallow, Northern Rough-winged Swallow are highlighted.
A new page has been added to the Rarities directory to support the photodocumentation library. Strange Birds will be home to the more bizarre birds that have been caught on film in Ohio.

Minor upgrade to the Lister's Corner section. Includes a listing of the Ohio 300 Club, and Ohio's biggest listers.
An outing yesterday with an ornithology class from Ohio Wesleyan led to some interesting gull observations on the Lake in Cleveland and Avon Lake. A page has been set up for a number of images by myself and John Pogacnik documentng some of the variation in a number of white-winged gulls and other species. The page also references related images of the season on other websites.
Several more photodocumentations added to the archive including Gray-crowned Rosy Finch (1984), Western Grebe and Golden Eagle (1999), Mississippi Kite, and two Golden Eagles (2000). The archive now holds 190 images covering 128 entries from 42 photographers.
