Hoary Redpoll
|
Please examine the following 3 photographs (total of 140k). Craig, having successfully photodocumented an Ohio Hoary Redpoll in the past, was intrigued by this very pale redpoll at his feeders in February 2000.
Two close-up views are seen before a panorama involving several typical Common Redpolls is provided in the third image.
This bird was debatable at the time of observation. However, it was subsequently reviewed [20 November 2001] by Jukka Väyrynen from Sweden. His analysis (see link to his website) squelched all doubt about the identification. Consequent to this review, the OBRC accepted the record as that of a Hoary Redpoll.
