Pomarine Jaeger Stercorarius pomarinus

Preamble: Apart from cropping, and filtering for sharpness, brightness, and contrast to account for scanning distortion, these images have not been digitally manipulated. |

A specimen from the autumn 1996 invasion found 7 Nov. downtown Youngstown. Only the 2nd inland Ohio record* for Pomarine Jaeger. Now resides at the vertebrate collection of Ohio State University. This bird's (likely a female) measurements place it at the small extreme for the species and offered initial confusion with Parasitic Jaeger, at first blush, for several experienced Ohio birders.
