Comparison with Ring-billed Gull; jaeger wings as broad but not as long as Ring-billed Gull. Considerable variation in size between male/ female Pomarine Jaegers coupled with slighter sexual size dimorphism in Ring-billed Gulls makes generalizations regarding relative size tricky. However, it is likely that most Great Lakes Pomarines will not appear much larger than a Ring-billed Gull and generally slightly smaller. The proportionally large head, robust chest, and powerful wingbeat of the Pomarine can further the illusion of greater size over the Ring-billed Gull- V.W.F.III
